Rafter J Ranch is a large subdivision located a few miles south of the Town of Jackson. Given the proximity to the Jackson schools, Rafter J Ranch has always appealed to local couples and families. A bike path runs through the entire neighborhood and connects with the larger pathway system allowing residents the opportunity to bike to Town and the nearby schools and grocery store. There are several playgrounds located in the common areas of the neighborhood and miles of nature walking trails in the neighborhood’s open spaces.

Developed in 1978, Rafter J Ranch was the first PUD (Planned Unit Development) in Teton County. The developers turned the 600 acre Brown Ranch into 360 lots ranging in size from 0.25 acres – 0.50 acres. Today, the neighborhood includes 344 single family homes, 100 townhomes and 50 twin homes (single family homes with shared garage wall), and 8 vacant single family lots. Rafter J is unique in that 60% of the development is open space. Given the clustering of the homesites, many properties back up to open space and offer great views of the surrounding mountains.
